Michelle Kidd Honored with Inaugural Chamber Award

Crystal Lake South teacher Michelle Kidd was honored by the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce with the 2026 Robert & Rosemary Blazier Memorial Award on May 7. The Memorial Award is given to a community member who shows exceptional service and leadership within the Crystal Lake school districts and the larger community.
With over 25 years of service in D155, Kidd has assisted countless students in their educational journey as a teacher and Divisional Leader of Industry & Careers and Wellness at Crystal Lake South.
“I am so grateful for this honor,” said Michelle Kidd. “I hope to continue serving this community for many years, not because it’s my job or I was told to, but because I truly believe in this work, in these people, and in the students we are all here to support.”
The Memorial Award is named after Robert and Rosemary Blazier, whose lives were defined by service and leadership to the Crystal Lake Community. Robert Blazier is a former superintendent of District 47 from 1973-1985 who also served as the Crystal Lake Chamber President for many years. Rosemary Blazier also spent her time supporting the community, volunteering with numerous service and charitable organizations.
As she reflects upon the impact that Mr. Blazier had on his community, Ms. Kidd said, “I had the chance to sit with Bob at lunches and hear his stories about growing up, working hard, building a life, Crystal Lake, Rosemary, his family, and the people he loved. He spoke with humor and humility, but also with such deep pride in this community.”
