Crystal Lake South Girls Flag Football Head Coach Ryan Felz was named Girls Flag Coach of the Week by the Chicago Bears on September 8. Coach Felz received the award in front of his team after their 20-12 victory over Jacobs High School. 

Along with the recognition, Coach Felz received a $2000 donation for the CLS Flag Football program, a Bears football and a backpack filled with Bears memorabilia. Felz received two tickets to the Nov. 22 Bears game where he will be recognized for his award. 

The Chicago Bears Girls Flag Coach of the Week program honors Illinois high school flag football coaches who create a meaningful impact on their team through character, discipline, football skills, knowledge, leadership and teamwork abilities. Coaches are nominated by a panel of local coaches with a winner selected each week during the high school football season.

Coach Felz and the girls flag football team have had a strong start to the 2026 season with a record of 6-1 and an undefeated record in Fox Valley Conference play.
